May-June Update addendum: Saga and Warhammer1000

Good day to you all!

Over the last two weeks I got a chance to fight and win a Saga Battle against those pesky Irish who have crushed me so often in the past. It was of course quite satisfying. Now I was lucky with my dice, and we played the Crossing scenario, a scenario which was the closest I ever came to defeating Keith's Irish in the brown. This time my men pulled through. I ran 4 warrior bands, while he ran a unit of hearthguard, a unit of warriors and the two bodyguards (I call them Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer from the acting duo)

The initial dispositions.

First Movements!

Clash in the ford!

The phalanxes inexorably push forward!

The redoubtable Bud Spencer, holds back 6 warriors!

But in the Saxon phalanx pushed forward!

Meanwhile in a Galaxy far away....

The Anglo-Saxons have crossed the river!

This guy survived Terrence Hill, the Irish Warlord, Slings, Warriors and kept giving me his units Saga Die,

My warlord slays the Irish one

The end of the game!

Meanwhile I also finished after two year painting the next army in my Warhammer1000 project. This is about 1000 points of Beastmen. The war-party is made up of a warlord, battle standard bearer, shaman, 20 gors, 15 bestigors, 10 un-gors, a chariot and 4 Minotaurs.

Leadhead PhD update May-June

Good day to all

It has being a long time since I updated this blog. Well I was traveling on academic job talks to the US and Turkey and took part in the graduation ceremony for my PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After a tough academic job market I decided to accept a three-year assistant professorship at Ozyegin University in Turkey. As a result I will be moving from the US for an unknown amount of time.

Though I did not get a lot of time to play over the last two months, I did succeed in finishing some painting.

First off I painted a Game Workshop Warhammer Kislvite Winged Knight. I am going to use him as the general for my Warhammer Dogs of War army.

With him are my rebased Gryphon Legion models. Initially I had bought them as Rough Riders for Imperial Guard but now they are repurposed as Kislvite Gryphon Riders. I will use them as a bodyguard for my general. I did not repaint them, but just rebased them.

On the historical front, I finished my third Napoleonic battalion, this one a French one. I thus now have a small French 1813-1814 Brigade made up of two battalions of the same French line infantry regiment (1st and 2nd battalion) and the first battalion of a Swiss French regiment.

Enjoy your days and nights!
